We activated our starlink RV in January while in the states and then moved it down to our boat in Antigua. Have been using it without issue as far south as Guadeloupe and then while sailing NW up thru islands now in BVI. No issues while underway doing passages between islands. Not sure what will happen on our passage north to Chesapeake in May (suspect many of us will find out).

I got an email today saying “Over the past 60 days, your Starlink has been used in areas that violate the terms and conditions of your service plan: your plan does not include service on the ocean. Starting as early as May 9th, 2023, you will be unable to connect to the internet on the ocean except to access your Starlink account where you can make updates to your account.

To ensure uninterrupted service on the ocean, please take action before May 9th, 2023. The following option may be a good fit for you:

Opt-in to Mobile Priority Data per GB: Opt-in to purchase Mobile Priority Data by the GB, if you are on a Mobile plan ("Roam"). This is a metered option - all data consumed when opted-in will be charged on your next monthly bill. You can opt-out at any time.”

We have been coastal cruising no more than 10 miles offshore and tried to turn it on at that time with no luck getting service for more than a minute, only going 3.5 knots. I’m hoping that it will still continue to work at anchor and at a dock! Maybe it didn’t work because it registered as being on the ocean and they cut it off. Thanks for the great info!

The one piece you don't include that the flat high performance antenna is twice as fast as the smaller standard rectangular antenna and without modification, because it can be mounted flat without modification will likely stay connected longer with less interruptions at anchor.

Yes, our use of Starlink on our boat here in the Bahamas violates the contract and maybe a few laws. And the legal issues might provoke Starlink to cut us off sooner than the business issues. Lots of Starlink users all around us in this harbor and none of us are likely to switch to the maritime version if we are cut off. A money loosing move for Starlink so maybe no big rush for them to do so
